PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT: Hurricane season is upon us and we just MISSED a couple which could have been bad for us. If you were not around for "Andrew", or the three storms that hit Central Florida (four for Florida) in 2004 in just SIX weeks, just google it.

There were 49 deaths, $61.7 Billion in damages and untold numbers of pets who were lost in the storm and never recovered. PLEASE microchip your pet! If you have an up to date rabies, we will not charge an office fee and WE will register the chip for you before you even get home! If your pet needs a rabies vaccination, we will get you an appointment for that too! Clients: Remember, you will need your pet's vaccination records, so ask for a copy NOW if you don't have it or you will not have a shelter to go to if you need it!

I used a large plastic box that I got at Lowes, by Ziplock. It seals well and I put Ziggy's important paperwork, health history, his food, even a gallon of water, a harness & extra leash, poop bags, his vitamins, etc. in the box for safe keeping. Polk County requires a kennel, so shop garage sales and get one NOW!

My Ziggy is worth a shelf in my closet! In November, I take the food out and replace it the next year with fresh food. While you are busy getting your human family ready to shelter, you won't have to worry about your pets, they are ready!

I am praying it doesn't happen, but PLEASE prepare for a disaster ahead of time.
